30.10.2013 EurAsEC and Customs Union. Are both economic communities necessary?

Customs Union EurAsEC

The President of Kazakhstan (this country is the member of both economic communities) suggested abolishing the Eurasian Economic Community and expanding the Customs Union, also removing restrictions which exist in the CU. During the session of Supreme Eurasian Economic Council which took place in Minsk Nursultan Nazarbayev shared his opinion that simultaneous existence of both these international organizations is senseless.

President of Kazakhstan considers that Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Armenia are the countries which may join the Customs Union in the first place.
Nursultan Nazarbayev declared that the President of Turkey made him a request to accept the joining of Turkey to the Customs Union.

Notice, that now Turkish also negotiates about joining to the European Union.
At this moment EurAsEC consists of Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The members of Customs Union are Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus.
